Challenges & Goals

Apogee Entertainment, the modern incarnation of the iconic gaming brand, brought UberStrategist in to support its growing portfolio of indie titles, including Total Chaos, LUCID, Turbo Overkill, Quest Master, Wizordum, Littlelands, Rising Heat, and Vexlands, among others. The lineup covered games at very different stages, from major launches to ports, updates, and titles still in development.

The 15-month engagement began with UberStrategist taking over PR responsibilities from another agency and working to strengthen media results across both upcoming games and previously announced projects. Apogee wanted a partner that could support the full publishing slate and help reinforce its position as a modern indie publisher.

Strategic Approach

We immersed ourselves in Apogee’s publishing pipeline and worked closely with its internal team and developers. Our deeper knowledge allowed us to identify opportunities across the portfolio and adapt to changes in release dates, priorities, and development timelines.

Our work included launch and milestone outreach, showcase opportunities, gamescom appointment booking, and coordination with partners such as Atari. We also played early builds and contributed ideas that could strengthen individual projects, including recommending Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka as a guest composer for Total Chaos, suggesting in-game easter eggs for Quest Master, and sharing feedback to improve the onboarding in Rising Heat.

Results

Our work generated sustained coverage across Apogee’s portfolio, with placements from outlets including IGN, PC Gamer, Newsweek, Engadget, Destructoid, ScreenRant, GamingBible, and Shacknews. We also secured 80+ interviews, features, and thought leadership pieces, including multiple PC Gamer Magazine features and a multi-page publisher deep dive with Shacknews.

Total Chaos became a standout success within the wider engagement and earned strong reviews and extensive launch coverage. At the same time, our ongoing portfolio-wide support helped build the Apogee brand while maintaining visibility for its established and upcoming titles. Apogee praised our team’s expertise, creative thinking, and collaborative approach and considered UberStrategist a crucial extension of its studio.

“Every day the choice to partner with UberStrategist is reaffirmed by the team's expertise, enthusiasm, vested interest, and consistent quality of work. The value they bring has cemented their place as a crucial extension of our studio; they are an exceptional group to collaborate with.”
