Challenges & Goals

Indie game studio Bigosaur, led by Serbian solo developer Milan Babuškov, tapped UberStrategist to launch Clutchtime™, a basketball-themed roguelike deckbuilder, with just one month on the clock. A seasoned indie dev with past chart-toppers, Milan had high expectations: drive wishlists, land Tier 1 coverage, and ignite influencer buzz.

Despite strong gameplay and a unique concept, challenges included a crowded genre, tight timing, and a less-than-positive past PR experience. Milan asked for clear guidance, no hand-holding, and results. Challenge accepted.

Strategic Approach

To deliver in just one month, we launched an aggressive PR campaign focused on maximizing visibility during Clutchtime’s July release. Review cycles kicked off in June, giving key outlets early access. We balanced media outreach with feature story and interview pitches, targeting gaming and sports-adjacent press to spotlight the game’s crossover appeal. Influencers received curated outreach and were included in all press releases.

Regular check-ins, reporting, and crystal-clear guidance ensured Milan stayed in the loop. The game’s unique theme helped it stand out, and we made sure the right people saw it.

Results

Despite setbacks like sudden staff layoffs at VICE and ONE Esports, the campaign delivered a championship-worthy outcome. Clutchtime landed 49 total pieces of coverage, including 10 Tier 1 hits.

Influencer Kenny Beecham showcased the game to his 324K subscribers, while Northernlion streamed it for over an hour to 864K Twitch followers, later posting to his 1.3M YouTube fans.

Media features appeared on Terra, Steam Deck HQ, and It.mk. The game gained 5K new wishlists and earned a spot on Steam’s “popular upcoming” list.

Milan called it his biggest commercial success to date. That’s the win column.
