Secures Top-Tier Coverage for Fast-Paced Sci-Fi Tactics Game

Challenges & Goals
Tortuga Team was preparing to announce Spaceland, a fast-paced, turn-based sci-fi tactics game set in a vivid and dangerous world. With only a short window to make an impact, the developer turned to UberStrategist for help with promotion.
We planned a focused two-month public relations campaign designed to introduce Spaceland to relevant media and establish its identity quickly. The campaign also needed to build enough momentum to keep the game visible throughout the full engagement.
Strategic Approach
We built the campaign around one press release announcing the game and two follow-up media alerts. Each outreach beat highlighted core elements of Spaceland, including its hero characters, alien species, and tactical gameplay.
When limited assets prevented the preview and review outreach originally planned, our team shifted the focus to news coverage. We made the available materials work harder and used each announcement to give media a fresh reason to cover the game.
Results
We secured top-tier coverage from PC Gamer, DualShockers, Flickering Myth, and Bleeding Cool, along with additional news placements across second- and third-tier outlets.
Despite the limited assets and reduced pitching opportunities, the campaign reached more than 176 million readers. This gave Spaceland strong visibility during its two-month promotional window and helped Tortuga Team make a meaningful impact with the game’s announcement.
A STRATEGY GAME DONE RIGHT
“From its delightful visuals to its enjoyable SRPG gameplay, there’s a lot to love about Spaceland, and it’s impressively accessible, too.”
