Challenges & Goals
Modiphius Entertainment, a publisher of tabletop RPGs and adventure wargames, approached UberStrategist to support the crowdfunding campaign for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim The Adventure Game. The board game, set as a prequel to the popular video game series, was preparing for its launch on Gamefound.
The goal was to generate widespread visibility and excitement for the project. Modiphius wanted to position it as a must-back release for both tabletop players and fans of The Elder Scrolls.
Strategic Approach
We designed a PR campaign to build momentum at each stage of the crowdfunding cycle. Outreach began with the Gamefound launch announcement and continued with online demonstrations coordinated between media and the Modiphius team.
To maintain interest, we secured ongoing coverage that highlighted the project’s rapid success. This included dedicated announcements for major funding achievements, such as surpassing one million dollars raised. We also targeted a mix of tabletop, entertainment, and video game outlets to ensure the campaign reached audiences across multiple categories.
Results
The campaign garnered over 750 pieces of coverage across tabletop, entertainment, and video game media. Highlights included coverage in outlets such as Polygon, IGN, PC Gamer, Kotaku, Dicebreaker, Geek Native, The Gamer, PCGamesN, Bell of Lost Souls, and Bleeding Cool.
The campaign reached an audience of more than 40 billion readers and helped propel The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim The Adventure Game to over one million dollars raised on Gamefound. This combination of extensive visibility and record-setting funding established the project as a standout example of how a licensed tabletop adaptation can capture both media attention and player enthusiasm.
