Challenges & Goals

Glass Cannon Unplugged partnered with UberStrategist to support the Kickstarter launch of Apex Legends: The Board Game, an officially licensed tabletop adaptation of EA and Respawn Entertainment’s multiplayer hero shooter. The campaign aimed to introduce the project to both tabletop players and the game’s existing fanbase ahead of its crowdfunding debut.

The client’s goal was to generate strong awareness and drive early momentum for the Kickstarter campaign. This required positioning the adaptation as both authentic to the Apex Legends experience and accessible to tabletop audiences, while capturing attention from existing and new audiences alike.

Strategic Approach

We developed a PR plan that focused on connecting the project with both tabletop and Apex Legends audiences. We positioned the game as an authentic adaptation and highlighted how it translates the core gameplay and characters into a tabletop format.

Our team supported the launch with targeted outreach to gaming and tabletop media, securing announcement coverage and trailer placements with high-visibility outlets. We also pursued feature opportunities to deepen coverage and maintain visibility beyond the initial announcement.

Results

The campaign secured 60 pieces of coverage, including placements in outlets such as Polygon, TheGamer, Dexerto, ComicBook, Gfinity, and GamesRadar, along with a trailer feature on IGN’s YouTube channel. This coverage introduced the project to a broad audience across both gaming and tabletop communities.

The Kickstarter campaign reached its funding goal in under eight hours. This strong early momentum reflected successful awareness and positioning, and helped establish the project as a high-profile licensed tabletop release.
