UberStrategist supported four clients—Zen Studios, Owlcat Games, 10 Chambers, and Nightdive Studios—with press appointment booking at GDC. Each studio aimed to generate stronger coverage for specific titles by offering media one-on-one time with developers and hands-on experience with the games.
With many genres on display, including puzzle, action RPG, shooter, and cRPG, our campaign required personalized pitching and detailed coordination. We began outreach roughly two months ahead of the show to ensure a lineup of meaningful appointments for each client.
We focused on pitching GDC-attending media, prioritizing outlets we knew had covered our clients or similar games in the past. Each campaign was tailored to the client, with the goal of securing as many relevant press appointments as possible.
Execution involved multiple pitching rounds, follow-ups, and daily coordination with both clients and media. As a team, we combined our networks to break through editors’ packed GDC schedules. Ahead of the event, we gave each client a detailed briefing book with editor, outlet, and schedule info to maximize their meetings.
Across all four clients, we secured 78 press appointments—including 28 with Tier 1 outlets such as IGN, TheGamer, Video Games Chronicle, Bleeding Cool, and Future Game Show. The resulting coverage from these GDC meetings combined for an estimated 778 million impressions.
Each client secured a meaningful lineup of interviews and hands-on meetings with relevant media. Even press who couldn’t attend expressed interest in covering the games after the show. The campaign helped all four studios maximize their time at GDC, secure valuable post-show coverage, and strengthen relationships with media for future opportunities.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the team at UberStrategist. Our team felt prepared for every interview and this contributed to our success."
