Challenges & Goals

The Rubik’s WOWCube is a groundbreaking gaming console and smart device that combines the physical feel of a puzzle cube with digital interactivity. Each side features screens and sensors that respond to twisting, tilting, and shaking, while an open SDK allows developers to create original games, apps, and experiences.

Cubios Inc., the creator of the Rubik’s WOWCube, wanted to raise awareness with press and influencers ahead of its holiday launch. Their goal was to secure media attention, position the product as a potential “Holiday Toy of the Year,” and provide hands-on opportunities that would showcase the device’s unique capabilities.

Strategic Approach

UberStrategist faced a short timeline to deliver both the SDCC event and the follow-up virtual preview, so our team moved quickly to secure attendance. We relied on established relationships with press and influencers to confirm participation on short notice.

At San Diego Comic-Con, we hosted an in-person showcase where media and creators could experience the WOWCube firsthand. We managed venue logistics, prepared custom products, and provided light catering to create an inviting environment. For those unable to attend, we later organized a virtual demo session that gave additional press a detailed presentation of the device’s capabilities.

Results

The campaign drew 45 press and influencer attendees across SDCC and the virtual demo. Media coverage included an interview with GamesBeat, as well as articles from Comicbook, Forbes, and GameSpot. The client was especially pleased with the caliber of outlets, noting Comicbook’s coverage as a major highlight.

The SDCC showcase gave press their first hands-on experience with the WOWCube and offered the team valuable feedback. It also helped raise awareness of the device’s upcoming holiday launch. Meanwhile, the follow-up demo allowed Cubios leadership to present the device in a more intimate, relaxed format for those unable to attend in person. Together, these efforts met the client’s goals for attendance, generated meaningful coverage, and helped position the WOWCube as an innovative contender for “Holiday Toy of the Year.”
