Revives Attention for Beloved Dungeons & Dragons Classics

Challenges & Goals
Following the successful campaign for Gold Box Classics, boutique publisher SNEG returned to UberStrategist to promote eight additional Dungeons & Dragons games for modern PCs. The Silver Box Classics release gave longtime fans another opportunity to revisit decades-old fantasy titles tied to one of gaming’s most recognizable properties.
The challenge was to find the right audience for these older releases and make them relevant to current media conversations. The month-long campaign needed to reach PC gaming, retro gaming, and tabletop press without losing sight of the games’ history and appeal.
Strategic Approach
Our team connected the Silver Box Classics release to the upcoming film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and the popularity of Spelljammer, which was represented among the eight re-released games.
We used those timely angles to support targeted pitching across PC gaming, retro gaming, and tabletop media. We also pursued interview opportunities that gave SNEG space to discuss the collection and the value of bringing these classic games to modern PCs.
Results
We secured news, reviews, features, and interviews across outlets that reached both video game and tabletop audiences. Notable coverage appeared in PC Gamer, Dicebreaker, ComicBook.com, Bleeding Cool, Bell of Lost Souls, and TechRaptor.
The campaign connected the Silver Box Classics with the broader resurgence of interest in Dungeons & Dragons. It also helped SNEG introduce these older titles to modern players and reinforce its role in preserving classic PC games.
REVIVING INTEREST IN CLASSIC GAMES
“We’re obviously very excited to see these games get some attention somewhere other than abandonware sites.”
