PR Campaign Secures Media Coverage with
SUCCESSFUL GAMESCOM SHOWCASE

Challenges & Goals
With gamescom approaching, UberStrategist led a two-month campaign to secure 15 media appointments for Ancient Machine Games’ Vice Undercover, booking previews and developer interviews over three days at the event.
Securing appointments with media outlets that fit well with the game was critical. For best results, UberStrategist would need to send dynamic pitches and follow-ups to reach our goal and ensure that attending media had everything they needed before their previews.
Strategic Approach
To reach the goal within the tight time frame, we leveraged the game’s unique story and pitched carefully detailed media alerts to a targeted list of press and media.
For our pitch list, we targeted highly desirable press and media outlets that would be at gamescom and genre-specific media that have covered similar events and games in the past. This approach garnered significant interest from Tier 1 and Tier 2 outlets in North America, the UK, and Norway.
Results
Before gamescom started, we secured Ancient Machine Games’ goal of 15 press appointment bookings tailored to their schedule on days and times that worked best for them. Our efforts resulted in previews and interviews with Tier 1 outlets, such as Daily Mail Online and TheGamer, and Tier 2 outlets, like Easy Allies and Pixel Magazine.
All meetings were executed flawlessly, with very few no-shows or canceled appointments. Since this was the first time Ancient Machine Games attended gamescom, UberStrategist is credited with forging these important media connections that could become long-standing relationships for Ancient Machine Games.
STRATEGIC AND RELIABLE SUPPORT
“Good media fit, well coordinated pre-event planning and on-site, immediate response to issues on-site, great on-site staff.”
Jim Törnqvist | Ancient Machine Games
