Challenges & Goals

CubiOS Inc. engaged UberStrategist for a PR campaign to support the Rubik’s WOWCube, a handheld gaming console designed around physical interaction through twisting, shaking, and tilting. The campaign spanned the product’s re-reveal, launch, and continued visibility across key industry moments.

The client’s goals were to increase awareness of the WOWCube, secure media coverage, coordinate interviews and reviews, and support event participation at major trade shows. With limited existing awareness and skepticism around the product’s functionality, the campaign required sustained outreach to introduce the device and build credibility with both media and consumers.

Strategic Approach

We developed a long-term PR approach built around key announcements, product milestones, and event activations. We prioritized consistent outreach to gaming, tech, and mainstream media while aligning coverage with major beats, including the product reveal, launch, and ongoing campaign moments.

Our team supported multiple trade shows, including San Diego Comic-Con, CES, and GDC, coordinating press appointments for each event and executing the San Diego Comic-Con appearance. We also managed review coordination, media pitching, and interview opportunities, while maintaining regular communication with the press to keep WOWCube visible throughout the campaign.

Results

Throughout the campaign, we secured 178 pieces of media coverage across gaming, tech, and mainstream outlets. Coverage appeared in publications such as Fox News, Forbes, Newsweek, GameSpot, and Web.de (Germany).

We booked 71 press and influencer appointments across San Diego Comic-Con, CES, and GDC to give the product hands-on exposure at popular events. We also coordinated the distribution of review units, which led to reviews in outlets such as Newsweek, Ars Technica, Schweizer Illustrierte (Netherlands), MMORPG.com, and GamesBeat.

The campaign attracted sustained media interest for WOWCube from its initial reveal through launch and major event appearances. This consistent presence helped establish credibility, expand awareness to new audiences, and reinforce WOWCube's position as an innovative gaming platform.
