Challenges & Goals

Indie game publisher DreadXP partnered with UberStrategist to support the launch of Sucker for Love: First Date, a Lovecraftian dating simulator that blends horror, anime-inspired aesthetics, and absurdist humor. As an unconventional genre mashup, the game required a thoughtful approach to ensure its unique appeal resonated with the right audiences.

The goal was to generate awareness ahead of launch, secure strong review coverage, and drive creator interest around the title. DreadXP also sought strategic guidance on launch planning and messaging to help position the game for success.

Strategic Approach

We worked closely with DreadXP to refine the game's messaging and identify the audiences most likely to connect with its distinctive mix of romance, horror, and comedy. This positioning informed both our global PR outreach and influencer efforts, allowing us to present the game's strengths authentically and memorably.

Our team pursued review opportunities with gaming and entertainment media while also targeting creators whose audiences aligned with the game's tone and themes. In addition to outreach, we provided launch strategy recommendations and ongoing guidance to help maximize visibility across the publisher's channels.

Results

The campaign secured extensive media coverage across gaming outlets worldwide, including ScreenRant, IGN Japan, PC Gamer, ComicBook, Automaton, TheGamer, PCGamesN, NME, and Game*Spark. We also helped secure positive reviews from Tier 1 publications such as Bloody Disgusting, Destructoid, GamesRadar+, Kotaku, Rock Paper Shotgun, and TechRaptor.

On the creator side, Sucker for Love: First Date received coverage from influencers including Markiplier, ManlyBadassHero, and Yippee Ki Yay Mr Falcon. The combination of let’s plays, full play-throughs, and reviews introduced the game to highly engaged audiences and expanded its reach beyond traditional media coverage.

By combining targeted PR outreach, influencer engagement, and launch strategy support, we helped DreadXP successfully introduce a highly unconventional concept to a global audience. The campaign established Sucker for Love: First Date as a standout indie release and generated significant attention across both media and creator communities.
