Challenges & Goals

Brazil Games, the Brazilian Games Export Program, partnered with UberStrategist to build global awareness of the country’s fast-growing video game industry.

When the COVID-19 pandemic canceled in-person events, Brazil Games pivoted to create the first-ever digital Brazil Independent Games (BIG) Festival. Our goal was to support the digital event with strong international media coverage and press engagement for Brazilian studios.

Strategic Approach

When the event plans changed, our team quickly shifted from a traditional event PR plan to a digital-first strategy. We targeted gaming, tech, and entertainment outlets to build excitement for the virtual festival and spotlight Brazilian studios.

We coordinated one-on-one virtual interviews between media and Brazilian developers, pitched feature stories on the country's gaming growth, and maintained strong communication to keep editorial interest high despite the shift away from a physical event.

Results

Our campaign secured over 400 pieces of global coverage, including more than 160 focused on the BIG Festival. Highlights included IGN, GameSpot, PC Gamer, VentureBeat, The Hollywood Reporter, Shacknews, Push Square, and JeuxVideo—boosting Brazil Games’ international visibility.

We also facilitated 33 interviews between press and Brazilian developers or executives to raise Brazil Games' profile and spotlight the country as a growing force in global game development. The campaign positioned Brazil as an emerging hub for creativity, innovation, and talent in the industry.
