Dubai, UAE (November 3, 2026) | Today, solo developer Rooted Elevation launched Saraab: Beyond The Veil, a psychological horror visual novel inspired by Arabian folklore that explores themes of self‑worth, sorrow, and emotional healing. Saraab: Beyond The Veil is available now on Windows PC via Steam.

Saraab: Beyond The Veil tells a story of self-discovery and connection, harnessing the supernatural spirits of Arabian mythology to pay homage to the developer’s heritage, combining Gulf-inspired folklore with psychological horror to uniquely craft an emotional family story. Drawing on djinn traditions and stories known across the Gulf, Saraab connects supernatural encounters with the fears, expectations, and family experiences that shape its protagonist. Rather than treating folklore as a backdrop, the story brings its external threats into conversation with protagonist Elham’s inner struggles. An unlockable Djinn encyclopedia gives players another way to explore the folklore that informs the game.
“As a solo developer, bringing Saraab to launch has been a deeply personal journey,” said developer Lubna Ahmed. “I wanted to create a story that makes room for both darkness and hope, where healing does not mean erasing what happened to you. Now that players can experience the full story, I hope they find something in Elham’s journey that stays with them beyond the final scene.”
Players follow Elham, a schoolgirl searching for her kidnapped brother, whose rescue depends on confronting both supernatural beings and the beliefs she carries about herself. To forge her own destiny, she must unlock the powers of her bloodline. Each encounter, whether with monsters born of the night or fragments of her own psyche, draws Elham closer to the truth behind the abduction and to knowing who she truly is.
In Saraab, healing is not simply the resolution of the story, it is what moves Elham’s journey forward. Confronting the beliefs shaped by her family experiences changes what she can face and how she can affect the world around her. Choices influence her path toward three different endings, connecting the supernatural journey with a more personal question: how much of the past must we continue to carry?
Clocking in between 4-5 hours to complete, Saraab: Beyond The Veil features 10 chapters, 75 unlockable CGs, a Djinn encyclopedia, an original soundtrack, and 3 endings.
