OGame celebrates 24 years with the launch of Project Orion, its biggest update in years

Karlsruhe, Germany (November 6, 2026) | Gameforge today announced that OGame: Project Orion is now live on PC, Android and iOS, bringing a major new mission system to the long-running space strategy game. Following the successful completion of its Public Test Server phase, the update adds a new layer of shared fleet activity to OGame, combining PvE objectives, high-risk PvP opportunities and long-term economic choices.

A new way to farm resources is coming to OGame
At the center of Project Orion is the Interstellar Anomaly Scanner, a new building which allows commanders to discover the new anomaly missions. Anomaly missions have many different types, ranging from peaceful cargo assignments to multi-wave defensive fleet battles. Once activated, an anomaly mission appears in the galaxy view, where other commanders can find it, join it or contest it. Each decision therefore carries a second question beyond fleet strength: who else is watching?
A more active galaxy
- OGame’s first battles against NPC fleets. Commanders hold position against successive waves of randomly assembled enemies, from pirate formations to Deathstars. Enemy composition and strength scale with the Scanner, rewarding players who read the threat and adapt their fleet. The stronger the anomaly mission, the more rewards wait to be earned.
- Cooperate or compete. Orion groups allow up to five commanders to coordinate on an objective, with group capacity determined by the mission owner’s Alliance Depot. PvP missions offer twice the rewards of PvE missions, but the participating fleets can be attacked by rivals. Every mission therefore involves weighing the potential rewards against the risks.
- Anomaly scanner. Players will receive a random selection of anomaly missions upon scanning. Anomaly missions will reveal their rewards before you start them, making it possible to target farm-specific resources or rewards.
- Various mission types. Combat and transport assignments create new objectives for Collector, Discoverer and General play styles. Potential rewards include ships, resources, Dark Matter, lifeform experience, artifacts and premium items.
- Lithium and new progression. Players can convert Metal, Crystal, Deuterium or Food into Lithium, which powers scans and reward claims. Lithium is shared across a player’s planets and cannot be traded or stolen. A new Control Center contains nine upgradeable structures, supported by a dedicated mission overview and tutorial chapter.
“Project Orion gives every kind of commander a new reason to launch a fleet. Each anomaly turns a familiar OGame decision—where to commit resources, time and ships—into a shared moment that other players can influence. The PTS helped us refine that experience with the people who know OGame best: its community.” - Martin Liedtke, Director Products, Gameforge
Twenty four years and still exploring
Project Orion arrives as OGame marks its 24th anniversary. The space strategy game first went live on October 3, 2002, and helped set Gameforge on its path as a publisher and operator of long-running online worlds. Project Orion continues that history with a substantial new system built around the qualities that have sustained OGame for more than two decades: planning, risk, competition and community.
Availability
Project Orion is available now globally on Android, iOS, and PC with a new universe offered for every country, and a full global rollout planned for November 30, 2026. OGame is free-to-play. Play at https://gameforge.com/en-US/play/ogame.
