Challenges & Goals

Original Gamer Life partnered with UberStrategist to support PR for the Golden Snipers, an all-senior esports team led by championship-winning player Abbe "DieHardBirdie" Borg. The campaign centered on the team's open enrollment period as it sought to recruit additional highly skilled senior gamers.

The goal for our one-month campaign was to reintroduce the Golden Snipers to media audiences while generating awareness around the enrollment campaign. Original Gamer Life also wanted to challenge common perceptions about age in competitive gaming and position the team as a unique story within the esports industry.

Strategic Approach

We built the campaign around the Golden Snipers' distinctive story and the team's mission to demonstrate that competitive gaming has no age limit. Our team developed press materials and pitched both the enrollment announcement and the broader human-interest story to gaming, esports, sports, and mainstream media.

We supported the campaign with targeted media outreach, press releases, and interview opportunities for Abbe "DieHardBirdie" Borg. This approach allowed journalists to explore both the team's competitive ambitions and the growing community of older gamers.

Results

The campaign generated widespread international coverage across gaming, esports, sports, and mainstream media. Coverage appeared in outlets including USA Today's For the Win, ClutchPoints, ScreenRant, and Computer Bild, which helped introduce the Golden Snipers to audiences around the world.

The campaign successfully raised awareness of the team's open enrollment while establishing the Golden Snipers as a compelling story that extended well beyond the gaming community. The coverage reinforced Original Gamer Life's mission and helped spark broader conversations about age, competition, and inclusivity in esports.
