AlphaDraft, a daily fantasy platform for esports, entered the market with less visibility than its two main competitors. To change that, the company partnered with UberStrategist to raise its profile ahead of a $5M seed round and lay the groundwork for acquisition.

Our goal was to generate positive, high-profile press coverage across gaming, esports, business, and lifestyle media while positioning the CEO as a credible thought leader in the emerging fantasy esports space.

Strategic Approach

We built a narrative around AlphaDraft’s unique value and strong backing, leveraging partnerships with competitive-gaming-focused game studios, esports celebrities, and prominent backers — including former NBA Commissioner David Stern.

Our campaign included targeted media outreach, CEO thought leadership opportunities, and event-driven visibility via E3 and PAX West Twitch sponsorships. Messaging emphasized industry momentum and AlphaDraft’s role in shaping the future of fantasy esports.

Results

We secured a feature for AlphaDraft in ESPN Magazine that landed them on the cover of the print edition. We also secured high-impact coverage in top-tier media like Forbes, Fortune, TechCrunch, LA Times, Dot Esports, VentureBeat, ESPN, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, IGN, Fox Sports, and Playboy. This visibility helped AlphaDraft stand out in a crowded space and build credibility with both users and investors.

AlphaDraft successfully closed a $5M seed round and was acquired by FanDuel shortly after. The campaign elevated the brand at a critical moment and solidified its position as a serious player in fantasy esports.
